According to Florida Theater On Stage, “Yet another member of the South Florida theater community has taken a final bow: Ellen Davis, who embodied the passionate, unflappably outspoken, painfully honest, totally supportive mentor, director, actress, fan, Carbonell nominator, and teacher who made a difference to thousands and thousands of arts students at New World School of the Arts. Short and slight in physical stature but tall and epic in her place in the community. The stage is a little dimmer tonight.”
Ellen Davis was a proud recipient of the Pioneer Remy Award from The South Florida Theatre League, and award-winning playwright Michael McKeever remembers her online as “indomitable…smart, sassy and full of life.. until the very end, she was a force to be reckoned with. There are countless students and artists whose lives she has touched and enriched.”
She will be greatly missed.
Many thanks to former Carbonell Managing Director Mary Damiano for this photo.
